2012 Tully Traditional Archery Shoot

Last weekend saw over 100 archers ascend on the tiny North Queensland Town of Tully to compete for the converted Bill Hill memorial trophy and the Title of North Queensland’s  umber 1 traditional archer.

The course was typical of that set up by the Tully club. Tight shooting lanes, rocks and trees made for a whole lot of kindling as those oh so beautiful traditional timber shafts came off second best.

Throughout the weekend a number of novelties were held including a speed shoot, running pig shoot and the ever famous Tully Ironman where competitors found themselves climbing hills, climbing trees, eating various gut wrenching foods including raw eggs, cat food, chili and dry wheat bix while shooting their bows and running about 1km. As you can imagine the competition for this event was fast and furious and the crowd of spectators were treated to side busting laughter as they cheered on their favorite competitors.

After two rounds of 20 targets and taking the speed shoot and running pig target into account  recurve shooter Steve Wallace was the winner of the Bill Hill memorial trophy and the Hunters Element prize pack.
